Abstract

MAZO ALVAREZ, Héctor Mauricio. Biolaw: the juridical answer to the bioethical problems. Rev. P+L [online]. 2014, vol.9, n.2, pp.74-88. ISSN 1909-0455.

The word biolaw brings up many concerns to contemporary society, including the academic circles. Not only are these concerns related to its definition, as many people today ask themselves about this new concept, its validity, its legitimacy and its limits as a new discipline. To start, it would be really difficult to speak about biolaw without speaking about bioethics, the discipline in charge of ethically reflect on life sciences, the problems emerging in the field and their possible solutions, plus everything that takes place in the health sector. Many of these situations deserve an ethical reflection and must be approached by means of laws and juridical regulations. The discipline of the law studies in charge of delivering such regulations is, then, biolaw. This discipline is just starting to emerge in Colombia and, therefore, reflecting on it, its reach and pertinence within our context is very important.

Keywords : biolaw; biojuridical; bioethics; law.
