Resumen
PENA MONTOYA, Claudia Cecilia et al. Identification of production sectors with potential application of reverse logistics: Valle del Cauca case. Rev. P+L [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.2, pp.18-30. ISSN 1909-0455.
Introduction. The production sectors in Valle del Cauca contribute to their development by means of competitiveness strategies that include environmental matters related to the sustainable management of solid waste. In this sense, reverse logistics is an alternative that reduces costs and negative impacts on the environment associated to the recovery of materials. Objective. Identify the supply chains of some Valle del Cauca´s cities with the potential for the implementation or the strengthening of reverse logistics programs. Methodology. By means of an exploratory study that included surveys, interviews, a bibliographical revision and direct observation, the information necessary to analyze the production sectors´ situation was collected. This allowed the design of value flow charts in some representative companies. Results. Sectors such as those of plastics, sugar, wood, pulp, paper, paperboard and graphic arts have productive, environmental and competitive characteristics that allow their classification among those with high potential. Conclusions. The sectors identified have developed strategies to manage waste, but have no formal reverse logistics plans in their strategies to contribute to the sustainable solid waste management.
