Abstract

GARTNER ISAZA, LORENA. PERCEPTION ABOUT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN STUDENTS AND PROFESSORS FROM UNIVERSIDAD DE CALDAS. Luna Azul [online]. 2010, n.30, pp.29-59. ISSN 1909-2474.

The perception about science and technology refers to the image they are associated with and to the notions and expectations containing some evaluative load in each one of these entities. The present article deals with the following aspects: the idea students and professors from Universidad de Caldas have about those concepts; the assessment related to some specific application fields; the global balance made of them; the idea of those fields in which the techno-scientific development is believed to focus primarily; the beliefs about science management in the world; the point of view about the accessibility of science and technology to the public; and the image of the researcher profession locally. The answers of professors and students from Universidad de Caldas about these aspects are related to other variables, such as the educational level, the origin, the political and religious self-positioning, the genre, age and field of knowledge. By the same token, a comparison with the results of the most recent Latin American surveys on social perception about science and technology in which comparable information can be found is made.

Keywords : Science; technology; techno-sciences; social perception.
