Abstract

HORBATH, JORGE E.  and  GRACIA, MA. AMALIA. EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION IN MEXICO. rev.relac.int.estrateg.segur. [online]. 2014, vol.9, n.1, pp.59-85. ISSN 1909-3063.

In Latin America there have been processes of improvement in the practice of educational evaluation that deserve to be looked at. This article has as objective to examine the Mexican experience, in order to evaluate its range. With changes in regulatory framework and the creation of institutions that monitor assessment processes in the education sector, aligning the goals and objectives with the international assessment proposals, Mexico has developed an experience in upgrading its systems, which is worth analyzing, not only for its achievements but also for its limitations that may be taken into account in other countries working at preliminary stages under similar situations as the Mexican case. Despite the actions in the field of school evaluation, there has not been enough study of their use and impact; it is not yet clear how they have contributed to an improvement that include school resources, human resources -both teachers and directors- or to the study of school processes and educational programs.

Keywords : Evaluation systems; educational evaluation; educational policy.
