Abstract

BARTOLOME, Mariano. THE CURRENT USE OF THE CONCEPT WAR IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS. rev.relac.int.estrateg.segur. [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.2, pp.43-66. ISSN 1909-3063.  https://doi.org/10.18359/ries.2793.

The present reflection article is inserted in the specific field of contemporary International Security, which daily exhibits multiple forms of employment of violence, in different parts of the world. In this context, we propose a work of exploratory nature, which reviews the different meanings of the concept of "war" in the field of International Security, far from the traditional points of view, related to the postulates of Clausewitz. The levels of analysis will be descriptive and explanatory, and it is possible to confirm the advance of approaches that understand the issue of war in an integral way, transcending the use of violence as a rational tool to reassess other factors.

Keywords : Armed conflict; armed forces; asymmetry; Clausewitz; violence; war.
