The COVID-19 pandemic has brought varied challenges to all countries. Preventive, coordinated, and harmonious endeavors between different institutions and the community’s commitment are essential to counteract the spread and effects of the virus. The analysis of documents and reports on the situation and response to the pandemic globally and regionally, security management in the region and the use of security forces, the study of the Colombian case, and the actions implemented in Barranquilla will show how international cooperation, prevention, and social intervention, collaborative work between different entities and institutions and their levels, the citizens’ commitment and good behavior have been fundamental to keep contagions and waves under control in this city.
