ANDRADE, A. A; MOSQUERA, W. A and VANEGAS, L. V. Models of fatigue crack growth. Entre Ciencia e Ingenieria [online]. 2015, vol.9, n.18, pp.39-48. ISSN 1909-8367.
Abstract In this work, different models of fatigue crack growth are studied; a brief historical description on this subject is also provided. The research on this topic is described chronologically; however, emphasis is made on the model proposed by Paris. Then, a number of models that, in general, correspond to cutting-edge research conducted by various international research groups are studied. The main aim of this work is to analyze and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different models, taking into account criteria such as ease of application, data availability, and correlation with experimental results.
Keywords : fracture mechanics; fatigue; crack growth; Paris Law; microcracks; macrocracks; finite elements.
