Abstract

RAMOS TOVAR, Daniel Ricardo  and  SALINAS, Sergio Alexander. VIRTUAL SIMULATORS FOR LAPAROSCOPIC SKILLS TRAINING. Rev. ing. biomed. [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.19, pp.45-55. ISSN 1909-9762.

This paper presents a review about some virtual simulators for laparoscopic surgery training. Currently, they are available in both commercially and under research; it includes simulators with haptic interfaces used to increase the immersion sense and realism of the exercises. Besides, the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) training program is described; it was designed to learn basic skills required for laparoscopic surgeries, and its exercises, or very similar approaches, which have been added in many simulators. Finally, a comparison between all the simulators found is performed.

Keywords : Haptic interface; Laparoscopy; Surgery training; Virtual simulator.
