JIMENEZ RESTREPO, Diana Marcela. Networks, communities and paths: transfer of job information. rev. econ. Caribe [online]. 2016, n.18, pp.36-59. ISSN 2011-2106.

ABSTRACT The matching between applicant and employer is more likely if they use their social networks as well as to be successful. Transfer of job information begins with premeditated events, such as demonstrating the desire to get employed or an employee. Intermediaries are essential because they transfer job information, who are also in the communities of other intermediaries. Thus, transitivity of intermediaries, overlapping communities with high local densities, particularly in the context of the theory of social networks, increase the alternative paths for the matching of a candidate and an employer. We go beyond the hypothesis of the strength of weak ties (SWT).

Palavras-chave : social networks; job search; labor market.
