MOLINA-OCHOA, MARÍA JAQUELINE; VELEZ-SANCHEZ, JAVIER ENRIQUE e GALINDO-EGEA, ALEJANDRO. Preliminary results of the effect of deficit irrigation during the rapid growth of the pear fruit on production and quality of Triunfo de Viena variety. rev.colomb.cienc.hortic. [online]. 2015, vol.9, n.1, pp.38-45. ISSN 2011-2173. https://doi.org/10.17584/rcch.2015v9i1.3744.
The objective of this research focused on studying the response of the pear (var. Triunfo de Viena) to deficit irrigation during the rapid growth phase of the fruits. Accordingly, for 2011-2012 , three irrigation treatments were applied to plantation-grown trees. The control treatment (T0) was irrigated at 100% ETc throughout the season, T1 was irrigated like the control except during the period of rapid fruit growth when 67% Etc was used, and T2 was irrigated at 100% ETc throughout the season except during the rapid growth period when the trees were irrigated at 55% ETc. Preliminary results showed how, despite the need for confirmation in subsequent trials, Colombian equatorial conditions may allow water savings of up to 30% during the rapid fruit growth phase, coinciding with the period of maximum evaporative demand, without affecting production or the physical or chemical characteristics of the fruits.
