Abstract

HIGUITA GUTIERREZ, Luis Felipe  and  CARDONA ARIAS, Jaiberth Antonio. Concept of quality of life in adolescence: a critical review of literature. CES Psicol [online]. 2015, vol.8, n.1, pp.155-158. ISSN 2011-3080.

The quality of life of adolescents has been studied with the same conceptual model for children and adults; distorting specific aspects of this population. The aim of this article was to analyze the conceptual aspects of quality of life of the adolescent from a critical review of the literature in four multidisciplinary databases. The conceptual model of quality of life in adolescence is determined by three specific domains and four generics. Specific domains include categories such as self-efficacy, adaptation, identity, family and school support, gender and development opportunities which are classified as macro-cultural determinants, micro-cultural and individual. Generic domains subsume the physical, psychological, social and environmental wellbeing.
