Abstract
BANQUEZ MENDOZA, Jesús Guillermo; MARTINEZ-GONZALEZ, Marina Begoña and AMAR AMAR, José. Legitimation of violence by young Afro-Colombian victims of the armed conflict. CES Psicol [online]. 2023, vol.16, n.2, pp.136-148. Epub May 26, 2023. ISSN 2011-3080. https://doi.org/10.21615/cesp.6181.
In many cases, adolescents' violent practices are due to consequences caused by problems such as forced displacement and sociocultural factors that make violence a daily practice. This study aims to determine how Afro-descendant adolescents in school in the municipality of San Onofre, victims of the armed conflict in Colombia, face conflicts in their daily relationships and if, in this process, they legitimize the use of violence. With this purpose, a quasi-experimental, cross-causal study of non-equivalent groups with multiple covariates was carried out, supported by a video game that simulates conflict situations in which the following are evaluated: resolution decisions, moral disconnection mechanisms, expectations about adults and scenarios. of violence. The findings show that the participants prioritize dialogue as an alternative to conflict resolution; age is relevant in the tendency to use violence; the legitimization of violence or the sanction expectedin the face of violent behaviour on the part of adults depends on the sex of the participants and their evaluation of conflict situations. The settings of direct exposure to violence, such as the home and the neighborhood, are determining factors in the decision to use violence to resolve conflicts.
