Abstract

AGUDELO-GOMEZ, César augusto. REPRESENTING “EL BOGOTAZO” IN COLOMBIA: NOTES FOR ITS UNDERSTANDING AS A “POLITICAL SHOCK” TO RECONSIDER THE CONFLICT AND THE POST-AGREEMENT. Rev. eleuthera [online]. 2019, vol.21, pp.66-88. ISSN 2011-4532.  https://doi.org/10.17151/eleu.2019.21.5.

Objective.

This reflection article intends to reconsider the historical event of “El Bogotazo”, accompanied by the light of the photographic lens as the result of a “political shock” that exacerbated the bipartisan violence and elevated it as one of the milestones of collective imagination on which the recent history of political violence in Colombia and its latest peace treaty are woven.

Methodology.

A bibliographic review on this event was carried out.

Results.

It was found that, with this event, various documentary sources delineate the beginning or exacerbation of the period called “La Violencia”. It was also found that new interpretations are required on this event because it is one of the most important historical milestones to understand our present.

Conclusions.

It was found that 70 years after El Bogotazo, representations continue to flow to stimulate the collective imagination of the Colombian society and narrate it from different perspectives. They emanate as much from historiographical discourses as from artistic expressions.

Keywords : shock; Bogotazo; neoliberalism; Gaitán; conflict.
