Abstract

ALVARADO-VAZQUEZ, Ramón Ismael  and  SALGUERO-VELAZQUEZ, María Alejandra. Qualitative arguments to research the identity of the shrimp boat fisherman: The field methodological process of the actors to be studied. Rev. eleuthera [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, pp.165-182.  Epub Feb 14, 2022. ISSN 2011-4532.  https://doi.org/10.17151/eleu.2021.23.2.9.

The objective of this article is to analyze the foundations of the methodology used in the research on the identity of the shrimp boat fisherman in the open sea in Mazatlán Sinaloa, México. The proposal was carried out based on the qualitative methodology of an ethnographic approach, which requires placing the actors and events in the process of approaching social reality. The results allow identifying practices, symbolisms and meanings that fishermen give to everyday phenomena based on social constructions. In conclusion, it is recognized that a fundamental contribution in the research is the methodological process to identify, organize and interpret the information that will allow the analysis of the social reality in the construction of the identity of the fisherman.
