Abstract

This article results of a study that reflects on the voices of five social leaders from different regions of Colombia who were additionally in prison charged as political prisoners.

Objective:

To analyze training and educational experiences of social leaders based on their life stories.

Methodology:

the qualitative approach with the biographical-narrative method was chosen as it adjusted to the purpose of collecting the memories of the participants.

Results:

Among the main findings it is highlighted that the mark of their family experiences, their time at school and their educational experiences in community contexts are part of the trace that configures their most important memories as well as their political options and their commitment to the territories.

Conclusions:

The community imprint emerges as on of the distinctive marks of their subjectivity and their educational background, a fact that allowed them to strengthen their identity and read their past experiences with that filter.
