HERNANDEZ R, Juan David  e  WATSON, Anthony. Partial anterior fundoplication: systematic review. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2004, vol.19, n.1, pp.29-37. ISSN 2011-7582.

Although the most popular surgical technique employed in the treatment of the gastroesophageal reflux disease is the laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication, the rate of postoperative complications and outcome seems to be higher than those of partial fundoplications in their different varieties. The aim of this paper is to review the existing knowledge about anterior partial fundoplication and to try to establish a comparison of with Nissen fundoplication, which is considered the gold standard. A systematic review of the literature was carried out, finding only one randomized control trial, a comparative study of a prospective series and a small number of reports of case series. The analysis suggests that both techniques reach a good control of gastroesophageal reflux and esophagitis and that both are safe and efficient. Apparently, there is a possible advantage for anterior fundoplication in terms of complications and postoperative outcome, since there are less dysphagia, gas bloat syndrome, and inability to belch or vomit.
