Resumen
QUINTERO J, Edgar. New goals for reanimation: possible applications. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2004, vol.19, n.3, pp.174-180. ISSN 2011-7582.
Confronting a patient in shock, resuscitation maneuvers culminate once the normal values of cardiac rate, urinary output, and blood pressure are reached, wich constitute the parameters generally accepted as the end points of resuscitation. A significant percentage of patients that reach this objective remain in a state of over-resuscitation, or compensated shock, wich, if allowed to persist causes death of the patient. The advent of new technologies allows the identification of patients that may be in compensated shock. Measurements of serum lactate, base deficit, supranormal values of oxygen transport, gastric mucosal pH, etc., have become the new goals of resuscitation. Our purpose is review the validity of the new and the traditional goals, as well as the probability of the application of the new goals in Colombia.
