Abstract

MELGUIZO BERMUDEZ, Mario. Asthma and antireflux surgery. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2005, vol.20, n.1, pp.49-53. ISSN 2011-7582.

We report on the results of 11 patients with pathologic esophageal reflux (GER), who had asthma requiring the use of inhalors and that underwent an antireflux laparoscopic operation of the Nissen – Rossetti type in the period July 1997 – February 2001. There were 9 females and 2 males, with an average age of 50.6 years. Only two patients had pure extraesophagic symptoms; mean follow-up has been 3 years. There was improvement or disappearance of asthma in 9 patients; half of them are cured.
