Abstract

GOMEZ, Martín. Usefulness of endosonography in surgery: Part II: therapy. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2009, vol.24, n.1, pp.39-45. ISSN 2011-7582.

Echoendoscopy is both a diagnostic and a therapeutic procedure. This paper reviews the advances achieved in the field of echoendoscopy and how they can be incorporated into the daily practice, with notable benefits for the patient: a less invasive procedure associated with lesser morbidity and mortality. Neurolysis can easily control pain, and the use of drains makes it possible to evacuate the different types of collections surrounding the gastrointestinal tract.

Keywords : Ultrasography; therapy; celiac plexus; drainage; common bile duct; pancreas; video-assisted surgery.
