Abstract
TORO, Diego Fernando; FLOREZ, Guillermo and GARCIA, Herney Andrés. Adrenal gland injury in penetrating trauma: case report and literature review. rev. colomb. cir. [online]. 2009, vol.24, n.1, pp.62-66. ISSN 2011-7582.
Report of a patient that received an abdominal bullet wound with a grade III lesion of the adrenal gland. The patient had conservative management with perirenal packing, with god postoperative clinical course and no signs of adrenal insufficiency. Adrenal gland injuries are very rare, probably by virtue of the anatomic location and small size of the adrenal glands. Management should be focused on the control of hemorrhage and the prevention of adrenalectomy so as to preserve adrenal function.
Keywords : Multiple trauma; wounds and injuries; hematoma; laparotomy; adrenal insufficiency.
