Abstract

In clinical practice we often face the surgical treatment of patients with hemoperitoneum, usually caused by blunt abdominal trauma and less frequently by gynecological pathology; however, other causes such as aneurysm or solid tumors rupture, solid visceral bleeding and even coagulation disorders. When all these diagnoses have been ruled out may be thought to be an idiopathic spontaneous hemoperitoneum, an uncommon disease, with an increasing report of cases in the world literature. A review of the world literature is presented and we reports a case with this disease treated at the Hospital Central de la Policía, Bogotá, Colombia.
