Catamenial pneumothorax is the pneumothorax that appears in women within 72 hours of the menstrual cycle. This is a very rare pathology and only a few case series have been published in Latin America and in the world literature. In this article a world wide literature search was conducted, with emphasis on the diagnostic process and the multidisciplinary management, and a clinical case is presented.
