This consensus presents the recommendations of the División de Educación of the Asociación Colombiana de Cirugía for the Colombian surgical residency programs, in order to face the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming years.

The recommendations were formulated using an informal method of consensus of experts made up of all program directors of residency programs in the country. The main recommendations are related to the selection processes in the programs, research, biosecurity, surveillance of operative volume, evaluation, simulation and virtual education, special rotations, work schemes and evaluation of program quality.
