This article aims at locating Furatena -the only opera issued from the pen of Colombian composer Guillermo Uribe Holguín- within a historic, dramatic and musical frame, in order to shed some light on the unfair oblivion in which this work remains mired along with the academic musical culture in his homeland. May thus be generated the necessary processes for awakening awareness of these problems among the public.
