This reflective article reviews nuances among the notions of movement, mobility and mobilization, within the context of the Latin American dance scene. In the exploration of the notion of movement, the article inquires about the appearance of stillness within the modern paradigm that promotes unstoppable movement. Through examples of contemporary dance pieces, we observe how in Latin America this stillness is accompanied by silence, and the repeated repetition of a mobile and unstable floor, which accounts for a constantly changing world. In the second part of the article, we analyze the notion of mobilization, linked to activism and its use in the military context. The proposal is that the act of moving is already a political gesture in itself, with enormous efficacy in contexts of violence where non-explicit discourses are necessary. Thirdly, the notion of mobility is examined, from the perspective of the experience of inhabiting Latin American cities. We propose thinking about displacements in the city as possible urban choreographies and social dances as an extension of mobility. As a conclusion, by reviewing these three notions, we seek to activate a dialogue between dance and dance outside of dance, opening an invitation for movement experts to participate in the design of the dynamics of everything that involves moving and / or mobilizing. For this reflection, the approaches by André Lepecki and the studies on movement by Randy Martin will be taken as main references, in addition to the creative works in dance and Live Arts by Tamara Cubas, Olga Gutiérrez, Zoitsa Noriega, among other Latin American artists.
