Abstract

ARIZA DE LA ROSA, John. Alternative Gender School: A Learning Experience about the Body and Dissident Sexualities. Pensam. palabra obra [online]. 2021, n.26, pp.220-233.  Epub Feb 25, 2022. ISSN 2011-804X.  https://doi.org/10.17227/ppo.num26-14394.

The new educational settings of the 21st century introduced a more critical comprehension of sexuality and gender. It is possible to find these elements in some methodologies and discursive practices founded in day-to-day experiences. This research article presents the implementation of a gender school created to develop an out-of-the-institutional-scope pedagogy, non-hegemonic, that meets the need for alternative ideas in regards to gender and sexuality. Such school is named Escuela Gimnasio Multicolor, and its configuration entailed the reconceptualization of gender as a social and cultural construction based on Donna Haraway's hypothesis of situated knowledge. The proposal of a dialogic pedagogy on topics such as identity and body was developed through activities such as informal and non-conventional educational encounters, workshops, conversations, among others. Moreover, it is important to highlight the place that respect and others' recognition occupy when creating a gender school.

Keywords : school; gender; pedagogy; sexuality; body.
