Abstract

HENAO-TAMAYO, Ana Sofia; URIBE-MADRID, Susana  and  ABRIL-CARRASCAL, Gerardo. Del grafito al lápiz digital, experiencias de dibujo a mano alzada en tabletas digitales. Pensam. palabra obra [online]. 2022, n.27, pp.42-63.  Epub Dec 02, 2022. ISSN 2011-804X.

This research article focuses on serving as a previous experience for the implementation of a Digital Representation and Ideation Laboratory, with emphasis on freehand drawing and illustration on tactile devices. It seeks to translate the experi mentation results into methodological bases to be implemented in the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering of the Colegio Mayor de Antioquia. However, its methods may be replicable in other contexts with similar conditions and interests. As a method, three scenarios are proposed among teachers, students, assistants, and volunteers interested in the freehand drawing area. In the first one, the exercises of the drawing courses with soft techniques such as pencil, color, or watercolor are carried out in a guided way using a tablet. The second articulates subjects exercises, such as architectural design, exterior sketching, plan corrections, and images and photographs intervention. The last scenario, the closest to professional practice, connects the authors' commissions with other research, which produce original results. In the context of digitalization and virtualization of academic and professional environments, accelerated by the pandemic of COVID-19, the results of this process highlight the advantages of incorporating tactile devices in the design and representation processes, while emphasizing their urgent imple mentation in the training stage to tune traditional design processes with the new generations and global reality.

Keywords : architectural illustration; freehand drawing; digital representation; tablets; project research.
