Abstract

OROZCO-LOZANO, Erika Tatiana  and  GRISALES-VARGAS, Adolfo León. Museums at Home: Museums and Everyday Life in the Contemporary Era. Pensam. palabra obra [online]. 2022, n.28, e401.  Epub Dec 28, 2022. ISSN 2011-804X.  https://doi.org/10.17227/ppo.num28-17312.

This article deals with the transformations that museums have undergone in contemporary times, more precisely the rupture with the exhibition spaces of modernity (white cube) and the arrival of expanded museums that take over the urban space, including projects such as the Precarious Museum, the Pedestrian Museum, the Street Museum, the Platform Museum, and the Modular Museum. The figure of the museum has not only expanded in the public space, but it is getting closer to everyday spaces every day, both in the increase of virtual museums, available to be visited in the users' homes and in the formation of house museums. These processes of transformation and expansion of museums allowed the development of two research-creation processes, in which it is proposed to understand the everyday spaces artistically; on the one hand, Museums at home make a visual and written story about different objects according to the importance they have had in people's lives; on the other hand, Casadentro: traditional knowledge of everyday domesticity in women's narratives, a project carried out in the territory of Riosucio, Caldas-Colombia, through the co-creation of expanded narratives. Both projects make visible through museographic strategies, the symbolic, affective, and sensitive value of inhabited spaces.
