Abstract

PALACIOS-OBREGON, Camilo. Approach to the Relationship Between Artistic Research and the Concept of Identity(ies). Pensam. palabra obra [online]. 2023, n.29, pp.163-176.  Epub Jan 01, 2023. ISSN 2011-804X.  https://doi.org/10.17227/ppo.num29-17243.

Based on the critical analysis of some of the precepts of “The Research-Creation Decalogue”, a pedagogical tool proposed by the author in 2017, this reflection article develops an analytical methodology that seeks to put in tension some Eurocentric and modern proposals on education and artistic research, with others conceived from a decolonial approach to art studies. To this end, the author studies the concept of identity(ies), assuming himself as a research subject and object in which various identification processes linked to the understanding of research creation are evidenced. At the same time, he analyzes the implications and risks of essentializations in identity studies of individuals and communities. It is concluded that in the pedagogical and epistemological areas of the artistic community, it is necessary to promote critical thinking linked to the understanding of the relational complexities of each of the identities of the people associated to academic processes.

Keywords : artistic research; research-creation; identity; decolonial thinking; knowledge; essentialization.
