Abstract

HERRERA BENAVIDES, Yonairo et al. Protein profile in lactating cows and belly heifers. rev. colombiana cienc. anim. Recia [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.2, pp.179-183. ISSN 2027-4297.  https://doi.org/10.24188/recia.v10.n2.2018.624.

The objective of this research was to determine protein serum concentrations in cows and heifers of the womb under grazing conditions in the low tropic of Colombia. Blood samples were taken from 6 cows and 6 clinically healthy heifers, in which descriptive statistics of total proteins, albumin, globulins, urea and NUS were determined. The results obtained in cows were: total proteins 6.53±0.73 (g/ dL), albumin 4.10±0.62 (g/dL), globulins 2.43±0.94 (g / dL), urea 18.14 ± 4.21 (mg/ dL) and NUS 8.45±1.96 (mg/dL); and for heifers the following: total proteins 6.07±0.93 (g/dL), albumin 4.40±0.89 (g/dL), globulins 1.67±1.33 (g/ dL), urea 20.40±6.10 (mg/dL) and NUS 9.51±2.84 (mg/dL). There were no significant differences between the categories studied, so it is concluded that both cows and heifers are in similar metabolic phases determined in terms of their nutritional requirements, therefore the concentrations of analytes in the body are very similar.

Keywords : Proteins; urea; metabolic phase; growth.
