Microbiological evaluation of a fish farming station in the Central Territory of the State of Rondônia, Brazil. rev. colombiana cienc. anim. Recia [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.1, pp.58-67. This study aimed to evaluate the microbiological quality of water samples from the fish farming base Carlos Eduardo Matiazze, in the municipality of Presidente Médici, RO, Brazil, through the quantification of total coliforms (CT) and thermotolerants (CTT). Coliforms were quantified using the Most Likely Number (NMP)/100mL method. There was great variability in the results, for both CT and CTT, throughout the year. The results ranged from 300 to 1100000 and 300 to 93000 NMP/100 mL for CT and CTT, respectively. The highest concentrations in NMP/100 mL for CT and CTT occurred at point 6 and in the rainy season. This point is located downstream, receiving all the water from the others due to the flow of runoff. It was found that 47.7% of the samples evaluated for CTT presented values of NMP/100 mL greater than the maximum limit established (1000 NMP/100 mL) by the current legislation, CONAMA Resolution, n°. 357/2005. Thus, the evaluated system is considered inappropriate for the development of aquaculture activities.
