Abstract

RONDON, Uliser Vecino et al. Alternatives for feeding pigs in the "Los Labradas" Cuba. rev. colombiana cienc. anim. Recia [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.1, e03.  Epub Feb 19, 2024. ISSN 2027-4297.  https://doi.org/10.24188/recia.v15.n1.2023.970.

Objetive.

The experiment was developed with the objective of evaluating two variants of stationary feeding alternatives with cassava yogurt (Manihot esculenta C.) in the pig fattening category.

Materials and methods.

The research is quantitative and belongs to the experimental design, two experimental groups were used with the variants of feeding with cassava yogurt and as a control the industrial concentrate. The variables studied were: bioproductive, economic, food consumption, initial weight, final weight, weight gain, food cost, among others, those that were controlled.

Results.

In the experiment, the productive stage of fattening was analyzed, 40 Yorklang pigs were divided into two groups of 20 animals, which were housed in collective pens for each treatment and fed. The treatment that presented the greatest utility was the cassava yogurt alternative with efficient microorganisms, without neglecting to highlight that in the two experiments the highest productive results were achieved with industrial concentrated, but with the alternatives used, the substitution of imports for this type stands out commercial food.

Conclusions.

With the use of alternative foods with cassava yogurt, it was possible to reach an average weight of 95 kg and 99 kg in the two experiments, what it shows the profitability in the use of these feeding alternatives.
