Abstract

COSTILLA, JULIA. 'Guarda y Custodia' in the Ciudad de los Reyes: Collective Construction of Devotion to the Lord of Miracles (Lima, 17th and 18th Centuries). Front. hist. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.2, pp.152-179. ISSN 2027-4688.

This paper analyze the source and consolidation of the devotion to the Lord of Miracles, during 1651 and 1771. To do it, we focusing on three central agents: Afro-descendents devotes, élites of Lima ?Spaniards and creoles from the local power networks?, and especially Jesuits. With the approach of historical anthropology, the most classical sources about this image will be analyzed and completed with other publish and unpublished documents.
