Abstract

The encomiendas vacas was one of the favors granted at the beginning of the seventeenth century to Pedro Tesifón Moctezuma -heir to the mayorazgo founded by his grandfather and son of Moctezuma II, Don Pedro Moctezuma Tlacahuepantzin- and his four brothers. This grant of 7,000 ducats, discounting 1,000 ducats that were linked to the mayorazgo in perpetuity, was in the hands of the Moctezuma family throughout the seventeenth century.
