Based on the analysis of the trial against Pedro Meléndez for poisoning with plants, the aim is to characterize the religion and the traditional medicine panche y pijao (shamanism) and the changes that it goes through at the beginning of the 17th century. This period was a time of rapid change, but how did this happen in the religious (shamanic) system? A detailed reading of the document "De officis de la Real Justicia contra Don Martín, indio del pueblo de Cayma y otros indios e indias por herbolarios" in the light of the ethnographic, historical and theoretical documents on shamanism and witchcraft, they show the transformations of the religious system, highlighting the new social contexts and the emergence of miscegenation society.
