The article presents the results from the research project "Materialization of Popular education at school, a didactic approach", carried out at the experience of Popular Education: School-Community of the Instituto Cerros del Sur, located in Ciudad Bolivar, Bogota, D.C. In such experience, we inquire into the pedagogical practice from the theoretical perspective of popular education, with the aim of understanding the practices of popular education present at the Instituto, while strengthening its teaching-learning processes. The critical emancipatory research action' methodology allows the attainment of this purpose. From the tensions observed between theory and practice, the complexity of materializing popular education in an academic environment is recognized; it is linked with the training of educators, with didactic techniques and strategies as well with the funding of similar implementations. Therefore, we formulate a didactic approach based on our findings and aiming at contributing to the teaching-learning processes. From the experience of the Instituto Cerros del Sur we have found challenges for the establishment of this alternative trend of schooling, but also, a diversity of contributions to educational processes in general.
