This article intends to make an analysis of the development of French exhibition in Colombia during 1922. It was particularly important in the advancement of modern artistic taste at home and became a vital link in the advance of modern art in the country. The article will analyze the objectives of the exhibition and guiding concepts marked by the event organizers. Then, it will establish a comparative study of the circumstances and the effects that the exhibition had in the two cities which welcomed them: Bogota and Medellin. In the first city, the exhibition produced a significant number of critical reflections and modern taste had the acceptance of a connoisseur group. In the case of Medellin, the exhibition was preceded by a series of explanatory texts in a local magazine. These texts showed a vision influence by the artistic conservatism and they did not indicate precisely the implications of trends involving the exhibition. The reception and the consequences of its display were different in both cities which shaped a different development of modern art in each city.
