The concession contracts for public works in Colombia begin to gain importance and mark a milestone in the participation of private companies in the construction of state works, inasmuch as in the presence of concessions fourth generation private sector should assume a leading role in financial and risk. Colombia, considered developing State, should be competitive and attractive to the international market, thus requires execute physical infrastructure that represent value in an attempt to improve its economy and contribute to development.This article aims, showing the history and development of the public works concessions in Colombia, raise awareness and show the way to through the exercise of political control actions to ensure optimal performance of the governmental objective and be implemented transparent execution of the contracts in question.
