The duty of information and pension counseling by the Administrators of Pension Funds in Colombia EAFP to its affiliates and potential affiliates is fundamental in the General Pension System, for the pension rights and expectations to be acquired and for the the very nature of informed consent to be established on the basis of respect for the principle of freedom of information held by members of the system. This article will mention legal norms and jurisprudential concepts that must be fulfilled by EAFP in Colombia, on the duty to provide information to affiliates and potential affiliates of the pension system, to obtain informed consent by the affiliate free of vices and with complete Clarity about the conditions in which it is affiliated to the system, determining relevant characteristics on the duty of information as a basis for the principle of freedom of information.
