This article discusses the health crisis in Colombia and the different barriers facing the Elderly to access the effective right to health care .The first part outlines the concept of health, old age and the health crisis for the entire population, especially the elderly which are the subject of this study. Subsequently, it focuses on the definition of 'barrier' and its types including: geographic, socioeconomic, economic - administrative and legal. Following on from this, some of the currently existing strategies to address barriers and inequities of this population will be analyzed. As well as, existing efforts to protect this group, identified as vulnerable, will be recognized. Finally, this article concludes with an analysis of the resources given to provide the necessary care. However, these are not enough to provide definitive solutions owing to the complex context of the country.
