This text explores the problems that have arisen in the Chilean family justice with the implementation of special rooms -called Gesell- to listen to children in a confidential hearing. These relate to the fact that the resource may not be being used optimally by its operators, for a number of reasons ranging from its genesis to the lack of a uniform protocol for its use. The investigation is gestated with the starting point is a qualitative study based on interviews with family judges in Chile.
