The research analyzed the journalistic approach to the adoption of children in Colombia between 2008 and 2020, based on a documentary scan and content analysis carried out from the review of the written media with the greatest coverage and experience in the country. (El Espectador, El Tiempo, El Colombiano and Semana Magazine). 554 newspaper articles were obtained between the years 2014 to 2020, having as the subject of greatest coverage the debates on the proposed referendum to exclude same-sex couples and single people as alleged adoptive parents. It is concluded that the media do not contrast the informative content with social actors directly linked to the process such as children and adoptive families, nor with the governing body of the adoption program - ICBF-, evidencing that the The main source is politics based on the issue being discussed.
