Resumen

ROJAS ALVAREZ, CARLOS JAVIER. Effect of solid construction on 3D rotation in a group of students. Zona prox. [online]. 2024, n.41, pp.110-128.  Epub 04-Jul-2024. ISSN 2145-9444.  https://doi.org/10.14482/zp.41.964.852.

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of solid construction on 3D rotation.

Applying a quasi-experimental, before and after, with non-equivalent control group. The subjects were students of first semester of Industrial Design and Graphic Design, aged between 17 and 22 years old, of both genders. The methodology of the class consisted of building, in groups of two students, a polyhedron with cardboard from the same capacity, and to deliver it with a written report, in person. The Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test, was taken as a model of statistical decision in order to determine whether there were significant variations on 3D rotation. The results of the study conclude that the construction of solids, a situation that involves the use and translation of Bruner's representation systems (inactive, iconic, and symbolic), significantly increased the factor of spatial thinking, 3D rotation, in the group of students.

Palabras clave : Construction of solids; 3D rotation; active representation.
