Agriculture needs an industry structure that optimizes resources sustainably. It is also a way of life for millions around the world who engage into it with the complementary objectives of obtaining income and relating to nature. Competitiveness in agribusiness as a topic has focused on macroeconomic aspects that explain structural aspects and their dynamics. Objective: To identify the conceptual referents of agriculture regarding the system, chain, company, and business for exportation. Methodology: Concept systematization and documental sources revision.

Frame of Reference: Agribusiness is a field under construction. The results: Modern agriculture, productive, technified, sustainable and competitive is a viable option as a business, and as such has been understood by the countries that promote it as a trade alternative.
