Abstract

MUNOZ-BURBANO, Zulman; SOLBES, Jordi  and  R-ZAMBRANO, Germán. Analysis of the teaching of quantum concepts in the "Atomic Structure of Matter" unit in textbooks. Prax. Saber [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.27, e204.  Epub Feb 19, 2021. ISSN 2216-0159.  https://doi.org/10.19053/22160159.v11.n27.2020.10754.

The article analyzes how quantum concepts are presented in the "Atomic Structure of Matter" unit in tenth grade textbooks in the area of chemistry. The objective is to inquire whether and how the transposition of basic quantum concepts related to the atomic structure of matter is accomplished in this unit. To do this, we worked with a methodology of content analysis, with the use of an analysis grid. The conclusions allow us to affirm that the analyzed textbooks do not use the quantum concepts to develop the "Atomic Structure of Matter" unit. On the contrary, there are omissions, juxtaposition of classical and quantum concepts, and even conceptual errors, especially in the transposition of the duality of quantum objects, in the relations of indeterminacy, and in quantum numbers.

Keywords : textbooks; transposition; atomic structure of matter.
