Abstract

Introduction: The objective was to determine the characteristics of the caregiver role of the families of the users of the service unit of addictive behaviors San Camilo psychiatric hospital in the city of Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, population taken from the ESE database Psychiatric Hospital San Camilo, attended by 10 families of users care unit psychoactive behaviors in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. The survey had nine variable formed by 26 questions. Results: Of a total of 10 useful surveys (100%) found that family support is economic in 50% and 40% emotional, in the role of caregiver role is exercised by 40% the mother was found a severe degree of dysfunction in 90% of families surveyed. Discussion and Conclusions: psychoactive substances bring a change in consumer behavior and their emotional relationships at home, since most families are unstable when faced with the problem why the programs and more drug addicts should be implemented to reduce the high rate of violence live in households of consumer users.
