Introduction: The biological risk factor is the main contributor to the work-related injuries in nursing staff, who are continuously exposed in carrying out their work activities, generating this high probability of infection with pathogens such as HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, among others. Objective: Review of literature on work accidents biohazard nursing staff in order to identify relevant aspects, important in prevention programs work. Materials and Methods: Description of findings in the literature on biological risk in the nursing staff. Results: The evidence is the high risk of nursing staff for their professional practice to an accident with biological exposure and risk factors associated with work-related injuries of biological risk. Discussion and Conclusions: The extraction of venous blood, injections and support procedures such as suturing procedures of risk are taken into account in the prevention of work-related injuries.
