Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases cause changes in the sexual life of affected individuals, but in clinical practice and research most recognized male sexual dysfunction as a priority problem, leaving aside the dysfunctions of women. Require that the nurse recognizes the sexuality of women as a fundamental element in the quality of life, understanding the meaning of sexuality, factors that influence the exploration of sexuality, the reality of female sexual dysfunction and strategies care to provide adequate guidance to enable the continuation of satisfactory sexual life. Materials and Methods: Literature review. Discussion and Conclusions: The expression of female sexuality is multidimensional and highly contextual and is influenced by a wide range of socio cultural, cognitive, emotional, relational, intrapsychic, etc., all of them should be considered for understanding their problems from a holistic perspective, research is needed to determine the prevalence, impact, significance of sexual dysfunction in women with cardiovascular disease in Colombia.
