Introduction: The Role of the nurse in clinical research faces major scientific advances, thus becoming increasingly important place in the management processes of selection, evaluation and monitoring of study participants, seeking to maintain high standards quality of execution, until it reaches its successful completion. Materials and Methods: Article of reflection on a critical analysis describing in detail the role of the nurse in clinical research. Results: This article aims to demonstrate the broad scope of nurses in the area of research, which highlights the great work and progress at present, we must go back to the second half of the nineteenth century, when becomes professional nursing and there arises the need for the first nurse who cared for the investigation, Florence Nightingale, who spent part of her work to the nursing research. Discussion and Conclusions: Nurses in clinical research has the possibility of self-determining care, because they have acquired a scientific basis in the academy that used in different trials, otherwise their personal development and innate abilities are vital to time to interact with the staff and participants, based above the regulation of the profession at a high level of scientific evidence that is implemented in evidence-based care.
