VELEZ ARANGO, Alba Lucía. Teen Pregnancy: a View from the Emotional Dimension and Public Health. Rev Cuid [online]. 2012, vol.3, n.1, pp.394-403. ISSN 2216-0973.  https://doi.org/10.15649/cuidarte.v3i1.38.

Introduction: This review article delves into the impact on the emotional development of the human being a teen pregnancy and specifically in their life plan, taking as central argument 'theory eudaimonistic' with a central question: How has living man? Materials and Methods: Through a review of the literature, it is argued that without knowing the impact of early pregnancy in different areas of life, is the involvement of their life project the unfortunate consequence of an unwanted pregnancy in the early stages of development. Results: From the classification of the World Health Organization and Pan American Health Organization adolescence stages: pre teens, early adolescence, middle adolescence, late adolescence, youth and early adulthood that identified five dimensions in development: the body, the brain, the sexual, emotional and social. Analysis focuses on the emotional development dimension; consolidation phase of the project life, independence and autonomy. We review the concepts of primary goods of John Rawls, the capacity provided by Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum and the theory of human needs proposed by Lean Doyal who believes that competition and choice are the most basic level of autonomy personnel. Discussion and Conclusions: In the work of public health in adolescence pregnancy constitutes one of its most striking issues, which has led to the development of a set of interventions among which stand out from international recognition as issues on the public agenda in the framework of the XXVIII Ordinary Meeting of Ministers of Health of the Andean in the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia (2007) and the adoption of resolution REMSAA on preventing teen pregnancy in addition to a set of policies that are being implemented in Colombia with a view to prevention.
